Hi! I’m Paula
I’m a photographer and cyanotype artist. My work centers on hand-printed cyanotypes created from my own photographs. Pieces designed to invite pause, quiet attention, and connection. Art meant to live with you, to gather meaning over time, and to spark conversation.
Each cyanotype begins as a photograph. Through a slow, hands-on process, those images are translated into blue using traditional cyanotype printing. Exposed by light and printed on cotton rag paper, each piece carries subtle variations in tone, brushwork, and texture. No two are ever exactly alike.
My years in interior design taught me to edit carefully. To remove what isn’t essential and trust what remains. That instinct carries directly into my cyanotype work, where photographs are distilled into something quieter and more physical. I’m drawn to the softness of these prints. The way light, paper, and process create subtle variation that asks to be looked at slowly.
Alongside my cyanotypes, I continue to offer a small body of fine art photographic prints. These works reflect the same attention to composition and restraint that shape my cyanotypes.
I’ve called a lot of places home—Seattle, Southern California, Boston, and Chicagoland—but for the past fifteen years, Charleston has been my muse. Historic architecture, lush gardens, tidal marshes, and ever-changing light quietly influence the work I make.
When my camera is set aside, I’m happiest at home on the marsh with my family—my husband Tim, our daughter Cora, and our golden retriever, Lila.
